I'm putting out a lot of content... quite worried it's TOO much content and I'm sacrificing quality. Considering I simply have not edited yet, that's probably true. I've had a couple people ask to read my chapters when I'm done, and I'm not sure how to feel about that. I know I judge other people writing quite harshly, so I'm guessing people will judge mine the same way. It's not like sci-fi is particularly enjoyable for people who don't specifically like sci-fi anyway, so I'm doubly screwed if someone reads my writing.
The urge to just keep writing, and to not stop at that 5 chapter goal I set early on, is strong. I would love to finish the novel by the end of this semester, but I think I'd be sacrificing the editing process in order to do it. There's just not enough time and there's no reason to rush through it and create something I'm not satisfied with. I'd also have to go back to creating "structure" and plan out an actual ending. How do you end a book about the development of a society?
Maybe the ending is they evolve out of the social distinction (it'd be like I was strategizing how gender is finally dissolved) and they make contact with the Survey Crew.
