I'm trying to figure out the vibe of the website. I'm certain it will match what the cover is, but I don't even have a title figured out yet let alone a cover. I'm still trying to decide what the alien species will be called. I think we'll have to have two names; one that they refer to themselves as and the other will be what the survey crew refers to them as. I'd like them to be slightly related. I like the idea that a species nature is so potent that even the term strangers use for them makes sense. I know that's a silly idea, and based on how humans have named other human groups they've bumped into, probably not realistic. But dammit, it's my book and I want some positivity.
I'm between two cover designs at the moment. One is... quite busy, but not just the typical "thing in space" cover design that most sci-fi books have. It's bright, it has the important colors I reference in the book (purple of the plants, red of the nonproducers' caps), and I think it looks pretty spiffy. The thing is, I don't know if I want an entire website that vibes with that cover. Too much going on.
The other option is the typical "object in space" thing. It would work better for a color scheme on the website, and I like the satellite orbit reference. I'm actually leaning towards this second option, even though it feels a bit bland.
We're DEFINTELY leaning towards the title "Maker", because I think it sounds cool and it makes sense. Also, I don't have any other ideas. I think I'm going to start calling "Producers" Makers instead, it's less weirdly formal. I need to come up with a different name for "Non-Producers" too, but I have no idea what it's going to be. I've put a lot of time into thinking about it. Really need to decide on specie's name to.
